Lone Pine Art Show

Lone Pine Art Show

On May 20, student art pieces adorned the lobby and front halls of Lone Pine in an open-house event showcasing many months of dedication and hard work. Students proudly shared their pieces with family members and explored the many other items made by classmates.

Art teacher Lara Bushon prepared for weeks, organizing and hanging hundreds of student pieces. This was the first art show featured at Lone Pine since 2019, and a first at the new building with Bushon as the art teacher. Prior to joining Lone Pine, Bushon taught art at Pine Lake Elementary, and then at West Hills Middle School. Heading into this school year, Bushon shared, “I am excited to bring a show back. When I was at Pine Lake, I absolutely loved the energy it brought to our elementary school community.”

It is a massive undertaking to display art made by 439 students, and the first challenge was finding enough space. When planning began over the winter, Bushon knew that grade 1-5 hallways could be off limits in May due to flooring construction planned in the evenings. Luckily, the many bulletin boards in the kindergarten hallway could hold quite a bit, and the Lone Pine PTO approved a mini grant to purchase two large rolling art display panels, which were used in both the main lobby and outside of the media center. The panels are reusable and can be saved for future art shows and any other time student work is on display.

Many thanks to Lara Bushon for the many hours of preparation and planning that went into the evening show. Thanks also to the Lone Pine PTO for the art panels and some volunteer assistance, and to all Lone Pine Elementary families for supporting our budding artists.
