Preparing for South Hills Middle School

  • March 5 - Find the SHMS Administration and Counselors visit to 5th grade classroom slides here.
  • March 13 - Schedule cards due to Lone Pine classroom teacher.
  • March 25 - 6:00pm 6th Grade Parent/Guardian Orientation at SHMS.
  • May 22 - 5th Grade students visit SHMS during the school day.

Dear Fifth-Grade Families,

As part of the transition to sixth grade, fifth-grade students will visit South Hills on Friday, May 22. Students should report directly to their elementary school (either Way, Conant or Lone Pine) in the morning. Shortly after school begins at their elementary school, the students at Way and Lone Pine will be transported by bus to South Hills and students at Conant will walk over to South Hills with their classroom teacher. Should we encounter any inclement weather we will have buses on standby for Conant students for the short drive over to South Hills. May 22 is a half-day for all district students.

Our Move-Up Day transition program will end at 11:10 a.m. Students will not return to their elementary schools and families will need to arrange rides home directly from South Hills. To lessen traffic congestion, carpooling is encouraged. Please pick your students up promptly at 11:10 a.m. Students will not be permitted to walk home after the program. If you plan to park your car and pick up your child in front of the building as they exit, please do not park in either of the two traffic loops; they are used for steady pick-up traffic only. 

  • Traffic Loop #1: Off Wing Lake. This loop is closest to our tennis courts. Please pull forward as far as possible.
  • Traffic Loop #2: Center driveway off Quarton Road. This area will have traffic cones to help families navigate the space. 
  • Parking can only be found off the front of our building utilizing the center drive located off of Quarton Road. 
  • Please do not use the bus loop closest to Conant.

Our South Hills staff is looking forward to this event for our new students. We have an informative morning planned for your children, and we are excited for their “first day” at South Hills.
